bird watching was my first introduction to photography back in 1989. the school i attended (abraham lincoln school) in dominican republic promoted a bird watching club for 6th graders. we had to bring cameras and we learned to develop b/y film. i don't see my experience quite like paula sees it (mine had a bit more of a tropical surrounding) but i like that it took me down memory lane. her page is here.
